The inability of Nigerians in South Africa to come up with a credible platform to promote and defend the interests of the members of Nigerian migrant community in South Africa propelled the formation of Association of Yorubas in Diaspora-South Africa (AYIDSA). So, in other to fill this gap, precisely on the 18th of October, 2015, a group of Nigerians professionals and business people of Yoruba extraction met at the Southern Sun Hotel, Pretoria to formally launch AYIDSA, to change the face and dynamics of Nigerian diaspora association in South Africa and around the world. Headquartered in the administrative capital of South Africa, Pretoria.

Our vision

Our vision is to redefine and rebrand Yoruba nationhood through communality and service and to harness the huge talents, resources and expertise of Yoruba people in Diaspora for nation building in Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.

Our Mision

To provide a credible platform to promote and protect the interests of Yoruba community in South Africa and mobilize human, financial and material resources for nation building in Nigeria.

The Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the association are:

• To provide a credible platform to articulate, promote, and defend the collective and individual interests of all sons and daughters of Yorubaland outside the shores of Nigeria especially in South Africa.

• To promote unity among the Yoruba community in Diaspora.

• To give Yoruba people and Nigerians as a whole a claim to dignity, self-respect and a new pride abroad.

• To initiate, promote and patronize renaissance Yoruba nation and Nigerian federation.

• To mobilize the Yoruba community and their resources for nation building in Yoruba-speaking region of Nigeria and Nigeria as a federation.

• To foster inter-tribal harmony amongst various Nigerian ethnic nationalities in Diaspora.

• To give direction, functional and purpose-driven leadership to Yoruba community in South Africa.

• To promote the general welfare of all Nigerians of Yoruba extraction.

• To provide critical social support and services for members of the association, their families and Yorubas in general.

• To motivate and promote the spirit of excellence amongst members of the Yoruba community in South Africa.

• To encourage Yoruba people to give back to their host nations.

• To generally advance the cause of Yoruba nation and the federation of Nigeria.

• To do all such other lawful things that are expedient, incidental or conducive to attainment of the above objects.
